The Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest | Romania

Finally had time to finish working on these images from my trip to Romania back in September.

The Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest is a magnificent building, a huge structure, in fact, according to the World Records Academy. This Palace is the world’s heaviest and largest civilian building.

It was designed by the Ceausescu regime in a neoclassical architectural style and was built almost entirely using Romanian materials.

Today, besides housing Romania’s Chamber of Deputies, the Romanian Legislative Council, and the Romanian Senate, the Palace also contains huge conference halls, salons, etc, that are being rented for a wide variety of other private uses.

I took a guided tour of the Palace, and unfortunately, at the time, photos inside were not allowed, and you can only get to see a very small portion of the building but enough to check out the monumental doors and windows, crystal chandeliers, woolen carpets so large that were needed to be woven on site, and the massive use of marble from Transylvania almost everywhere.
