U Bein Bridge Near Mandalay | Myanmar

As I took a break from processing photos from the trip to Italy, I went back to the archives and started to work on some of the ones from Myanmar.

I still have tons of photos from Burma that I need to work on; it’s such an amazing place that I hope to get back to in the future.

Very close to Mandalay, the U Bein Bridge is one of the most popular sights in the area. Of course there is a reason: this is not an ordinary bridge. Crossing Taungthaman Lake and over 1.2 kilometers long, it is believed to be the oldest and longest teakwood bridge in the world, as it was built around 1850.

The place, along with the Temples of Bagan, is probably one of the most photographed places in Burma. The old teak structure is amazing, especially during the golden hours, but besides that, the bridge is full of life. During this time, hundreds of monks and villagers are commuting back and forth, by foot and bicycle.

I shot photos here in the morning and also in the afternoon, and here are some of my favorites.
