So, I know I haven’t post a lot lately, but I was really swamped with some assignments and commercial work, mostly for my real estate virtual tours that you can see in HD VIRTUALS.

As a remedy I am planning to start posting also some of that work here also in the blog, so I’ll have mixed stuff, personal work and travels as well outtakes from assignments as well.

Anyways, here you can see a slideshow that I’ve forced myself to finish for a presentation in my local camera club “SFCC“, that compiles some of the images that I most like of my trip to Eastern Europe last March. The photos were taken in period time of 10 days covering, Prague, Brno, Bratislava, Vienna and Budapest. It was really an amazing trip.

I’ll keep posting individual images of the trip in future posts, along with more information and details.

Enjoy the slideshow and feel free to leave comments.

Quick break from posting images from Europe as I went downtown yesterday mostly to check out some places to come back another day and do some night photos.

Late in the afternoon I was walking around the Performing Art Center and the Opera House, and I made some pictures of the buildings and ended up editing this one of the Opera House.

There is something with the sun and blown sky that I really like, and of course the building is very nice itself, as I said I am planning to come later in the week to shoot around here at dusk.

Well that’s all for now, more to come soon, in the meantime got out there and shoot something.

What can I say about Budapest? This is a place that I’d go back again and again, so many things to do and see, all full of history and magic.

Here I have a photo that I took from the Buda side looking through the arches of the Fishermen’s Bastion at dusk, and you can see the Danube and mainly the Parliament building in the Pest side under wonderful lighting. The Fishermen’s Bastion is a terrace on the Castle hill that surrounds the Matthias Church. From the the terrace you can see and get wonderful panoramic views of the Pest side, and the structure itself is just breathtaking. I’ll post some pictures of the place in later posts as well.

Dusk is becoming more and more my favorite time of the day to shoot, there is a small window of about an hour or so, after the sun is gone where the sky turns to a magnificent glowing blue that really works wonders, at least for me…

For this image I’ve used a wide angle lens, and used the columns and arches to frame the Parliament building and also used the color contrast from within the arches against the sky.

That’s all for now, click on the image to see it large… and I hope you like it, more to come soon, in the meantime get out there and shoot something…

I’ve been very busy this past week trying to catch up with editing and with a couple of commercial shoots, I am almost done with the photos of the first city I’ve visited in the trip to Europe, Brno, in the Czech Republic and I’ll be posting a gallery of all the finished images soon.

Speaking of Brno, today’s picture was taken there in the St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, locally known as Petrov. You need to use these stairs to go up to the tower, lots of steps there… but totally worth it, you access from a small door in one the sides of the church and you have to climb about 6 to 7 floors but the view from up there is just magnificent, if you saw some of my pictures of the red roofs of Brno you know what I am taking about.

Anyways, the Cathedral itself is also great, it was built in the top of a hill, and that’s also the main reason you get the great views from up there. I made this picture when I was coming down, this is just one shot with the Sigma 10-20mm lens, just used the rails to hold the camera and stabilize it.

The final image was post-proceseed with Lightroom and Photoshop, and I really like the change in colors produced by the different light source types, the blues coming from the windows and the yellows by the lamps of the interior of the stairs, I also like the way the view convey to the center of the image and the path downstairs, as always click on the image to see a larger version.

I hope you like it too, that’s all for now…. more to come soon… in the meantime get out there and shoot something.

It was my last day in Budapest, and I was shooting from the Pest side in the evening, trying to get everything I could during those few minutes of twilight, and the light was gone, so no more blue sky, at least from where I was, and with the city lights I had no more opportunity to catch a blue sky, so I packed it all and started my walk back to the hotel.

A few blocks ahead I found this phone booth in a corner, I liked the building and the street, still, it was dark, but right there I envisioned this picture, light just from the phone booth, and dark night in the rest of the street, so I pulled the tripod, mounted the wide angle and fired away… it took me 3 or 4 shoots, to get the angle I was looking for, and in the last one I went to the phone booth and opened the door. I was there probably a good 20 minutes making this photo and having fun… specially when tourists were passing by and stopping to see what I was shooting at, they stop, looked… looked again… and I know… they must be thinking there was something there, or this guy just went nuts… shooting an empty and boring phone booth… but they don’t see anything and walked away…

So here it is, my picture of a lonely phone booth in Budapest, shoot in the darkness of the night in a old empty street, I really like the mood of the image and I hope you like it too, as always click on the image to see it bigger.

That’s all for now… more to come soon, in the meantime, get out there and shoot something….

It is time now to start working on the photos taken during the trip to Europe, having more time to edit and upload, so I am starting today with an image of Charles Bridge at sunrise.

Prague was really great, even do, in my opinion, it is to crowded with tourists, so to get a picture with no people you need to get up really early and try to catch up the sunrise, which by the way gives you great light, specially because as you see in the image the sun rises just behind the tower facing Stare Mesto (Old City).

The Charles Bridge, is one of the most famous places in Prague, the construction started in 1357 and it was finished in the beginning of the 15th century, it was very important also because it was the only way to cross the Vltava river and to connect the Prague Castle and the City (Old Town) to learn more about the bridge click here.

During this time of the day the bridge is a quiet place, I just encountered some other photographers, during the day was really crazy, you get from tourists crossing, to al kind of street artists, kiosks owners and other traders.

I really like the mood of the image and the mist of the morning, it was cold but it was really worth it to be out there shooting.

That’s all for now, more to come soon, in the meantime get out there and shoot something…

Just came back to the Hotel to post yesterday’s pictures and breakfast, I waked up at 5 am today to go and shoot early morning the Charles Bridge, and it was just great, but let me tell you…. it was freezing cold…

Maybe I am in love with this city, maybe its just the fact that was here, about 7 years ago, that my passion for photography was reawaken, I don’t know what it is very well but this place is really magical.

Prague, is the capital of the Czech Republic, and also the most valuable historical city reserve, as the entire core of the city which cover about 866 hectares was named by Unesco as “World Cultural and Natural Register Heritage”.

The only drawback in a place like this, and least for me, is the massive quantity of visitors and tourists, for times, just looks like Disneyland, making difficult to even walk in certain areas.

I have one more day of shooting, today… and then back to home, so this is the last post from the trip, as I won’t be able to post tomorrow, I’ll be in a flight heading Miami. In next few weeks I’ll continue to post pictures, but finished and edited versions, I can’t wait to get my hands to them, I have great material to work with.

My next trip will be to Peru, in June 2011, you can see the details in the website, there are still some spots open, so you can join me and have fun.

So, here are the pictures taken yesterday in beautiful Prague, comments are always appreciated, that’s all for now folks…. more to come soon, in the meantime have a great Sunday and get out there and shoot something……

I am now in Prague, this is my last stop in the trip, before coming back home in a couple of days. There is not really to much to report from yesterday as we just traveled by car from Budapest to Prague.

The drive was longer than expected, it was supposed to be about 5 to 6 hours but lasted more than 8, it was difficult to get out and in the cities, so there was no really time for shooting.

I walked around Prague last night, luckily the hotel is very close to Stare Mesto, the old town, and it was packed with tourists, I was here in Prague about 7 years ago, for just one day, and I remember a different old town, but you can clearly perceive now the tourists invasion, with gift shops and stores all over, also very different of the other cities I just visited.

We’ll, this is the no picture day…. but I leave you with what I saw during most of the day yesterday…

That’s all for now folks, more to come soon… in the meantime get out there and shoot something.

I am packing up and prepping to move to the last stop of the trip today, I’ll spend the weekend shooting in Prague, and then return home. The trip from Budapest to Prague, seems to be around 5 hours drive, and I am also planning to visit the famous thermal spring baths here in Budapest before leaving, so I am not so sure if I’ll have some photo time today.

But anyways, yesterday was fantastic, unfortunately I couldn’t catch up the hop on and off bus, and I ended up walking all day again, this is being proven to be a great exercise. So I walked to the parliament during the morning and the headed to the other side of the Danube river.

Budapest used to be 2 cities, Buda and Pest, then become together forming Budapest. Both sides are great but totally different, I enjoyed both, you can get wonderful vistas from each side of the river and great places to visit also in both. 2 days felled short for this visit, I guess if you want to see it all, or at least better, you’ll need at least 4 to 5 days.

For the first time during the trip, the weather didn’t help me yesterday, don’t get me wrong… it was freezing cold the entire trip, but yesterday was also overcast most of the day, so in some of the pictures I was almost forced to try to see and think Black and White, or strip off the sky. I had good pictures anyway.

Well, here are some the pictures that I most like of yesterday, I’m going now to go downstair, have some breakfast and then punish myself in the thermal baths….

That’s all for now folks, more to come soon, in the meantime.. get out there and shoot something.

Budapest is really awesome, however is bigger than expected, as always, yesterday started to walk around and realized that the city was really big, and the main sights are all over the places, so to the contrary to the prior cities I went this one is more difficult to walk around as distances between the main spots are big. The city also spreads to both sides of the Danube, making it even more difficult. That was a drawback because I didn’t get to see so many places as I expected yesterday, hence the way not very productive in terms of pictures.

I have a different plan for today, I am taking it by bus instead of walk, granted my legs will thank me…. and luckily I have another day here. But this is the last day in Budapest tomorrow I’ll move to Prague, my last stop in the trip before coming back home.

So I leave you with some pictures, and we’ll get some more tomorrow, so that’s all for now, in the meantime get out there and shoot something,,,,
