As far as photography there are infinite opportunities just in the Strip alone you can spend days and days and keep coming from more.

Here is an HDR shot of the Eiffel Tower’s replica at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel, shot from across the street.

This shot was taken at dusk, and it is a 5 bracket exposure, it was converted using Photomatix and post processed in Lightroom and Photoshop.

I wanted my image to be different so I decided to work with a model and make the picture in the studio, I first made some tests with a friend without any success, but that day, I learned that I was going to need some more than just flashlights… in order to get the kind of images I was envisioning. The main issue I had was that I was literally burning the image, and I had light spills all over the places without any kind of control.

So, for the second day my model was coming and I got better prepared, I put diffusers in front of the flashlights and also created cardboard snoots of different sizes to have better control over the lights, I also got some Glow sticks from Amazon to use in the image.

As said before, the image was taken in my studio, the studio was completely dark and the camera was in bulb mode, I used a wide angle lens to create a very strong image and great pose, I first started using and painting with a flashlight with a red gel and a diffuser, I also placed a snoot in front of the light, with this I panted the body, after that I used a led flashlight, also with a snoot made of black cardboard, but this one was made in order to have the light much more concentrated, with this I painted the white stripes over her body, finally I used the Glow sticks to create the frame of light around her. The total time for the exposure was about 110 seconds.

I have really need to thank my model Marina, who was patient enough to work and collaborate with me in this shot,  lots of trial an errors, until we got what we wanted, and I am really proud to say that the picture came in first place in the SFCC competition.

Now that I’ve experimented with this technique I really want to produce more pictures using it.
